About Us

We know all too well that the eco-friendly choice isn’t usually the easiest. It’s too easy to forget your reusable coffee cup in the morning, to grab the plastic fork at lunch, to pick up the single-use plastic household products as you go round the supermarket or be enticed by the 2 for 1 offer on a brand you don’t know. Not only that, it’s difficult to know how sustainable the products you are buying actually are and how they stack up against the things that are important to you.

At Si-Su our mission is to make it easier for you to make the more sustainable choice, for you.

We carefully select partners and products based on those reducing waste and single-use plastic, that are cruelty free, use natural and eco-friendly ingredients and from companies giving back. All of our partners approach doing good in different ways and some are further along the journey than others, but what unites them is that they all have a purpose to make a change for the better. And of course, they all have great products.

Si-Su is all about transparency, and helping you be conscious about where you spend your money. This is why you can see key information about each partner on Our Partner page and against each product, so you can make the right decision for you. Designed to make it easier for you to make your sustainable choices. We are powerful as consumers, we can exercise that power by consciously deciding where we put our money.

Why Si-Su?

Si-Su is a Finnish concept meaning a stoic determination, tenacity of purpose, grit, bravery, resilience, and hardiness. The term resonated with us immediately, in how we hope to approach the sustainability challenge, and do our part to get the planet back to a place where all life can thrive for generations to come.

How we give back

As well as the change we hope to make through Si-Su in reducing household waste, we also give at least 10% of our profits to other causes. For 2020 we have chosen National Emergency Trust. National Emergency Trust collaborate with charities and other bodies to distribute money and support to victims at the time of a domestic disaster. They help make sure money is used more effectively and it gets to the right people. Their mission is to harness the nation’s generosity to support those affected by a national emergency at their time of greatest need. To learn more about their work head over to their website at nationalemergenciestrust.org.uk.

We will also do special campaigns throughout the year to support other causes close to our heart, so keep your eyes open.

How we began

We first bonded at our day job over our nut milk cappuccinos, putting the world to rights. Although both coming from quite different career backgrounds, we had a lot of similarities in how we approach things - we both take a lot of pride in whatever we do, we are self development geeks, we’re doers and are true believers in progression not perfection. And maybe most importantly, ultimately we both find our energy in believing we are doing the right thing and making a difference.

This is where Si-Su.co.uk was born. We are both conscious consumers, but it reached a point where we felt we could and should be doing more for the environment and the planet. We believe Si-Su can make a difference to a more sustainable world today and for the next generation. We may not be perfect, but we believe that what we are doing will help leave a better world than if we did nothing.
